Once the cement cures for 24 hours the filter is removed from the steel mould and we have another new all Natural Biosand Water Filter

We can produce 100 filters a month that will look after 1000 people. One filter per family or it can be shared by 2 or more families. There is no ongoing costs and the sand never has to be replaced. The inner steel mould is removed after curing for about 24 hours. Student learn every aspect of making the Biosand Water Filters so they can address the health concerns of their own people.

We use locally available materials, local labour and local Leadership. Nothing is imported. Everything is made locally in Nicaragua by those that we train. The project becomes 100% managed by Nicaraguans
