NEW PROJECTS
NEW PROJECTS IN MEXICO
The needs
continue to be immense in Mexico. We spent nearly 4 months in Zihuatanejo,
Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Hermosillo. We team up
with the very under privileged families assisting in their needs
for safe, clean filtered water through setting up additional Biosand
Water Filter. If you feel you would like
to help us financially or even join us for a time at one of our
locations, please email us at
fwc@friendswhocare.ca
or click on the "DONATE NOW"
button at the top of the page. Thank you very much.
Opportunities
are available to teach "English as a
Second Language" to those children that could not
otherwise afford this education. We believe we can help break
the cycle of poverty by providing education today that will open
doors in the future.
NEW PROJECT IN SOUTHERN
SUDAN
www.ruweng.com
The Ruweng People Association is a
non-profit humanitarian organization founded by Ruweng refugees.
There are members throughout the United States, Canada,
Australia, and eastern Africa. The major focus of the
organization is to help the Ruweng people in Southern Sudan. The
Ruwengs have remained in isolation since the civil war started
in 1983. The Ruwengs were the first to be attacked by the
government sponsored Arab militias from Northern Sudan. Many
people were killed; herds of cattle, sheep and goats were taken
or killed; our crops were destroyed. These people were left with
nothing but hunger, disease and fear.
Over twenty years have passed. The people are
still suffering. They have no clean drinking water, no
sanitation systems, no medical care and no schools. The
Ruweng People Association is a voice crying out to the world
to bring help to the Ruweng people.
Friends Who Care is responding to this immense need by sending a
team of volunteers headed by Steve Marchbank for the third time
to Southern Sudan to work
with the Ruweng leaders to seek underground water and drill
wells for life giving water. The team will also train the Ruweng
Leadership in manufacturing their own Biosand water Filters with
their own labor and materials. We believe this will impact the
health and lives of thousands of families for years to come.
This is a very
troubled area and we appreciate the initiative of our Lead
Volunteer, Steve Marchbank
of Okotoks, Alberta Canada. Steve has travelled to Ruweng,
Southern Sudan twicew and plans on returning soon. Steve has already shipped 2 sea containers of
medical supplies and hired one Doctor for an incredible
5,000,000 people in the area. Steve is looking for a second
Doctor right now. If you are a Doctor or in health care please
call today. The need is immense.
Our volunteers
raise their own funding and pay their own way. If you have a heart for the extremely
desperate plight of the Ruweng people we would certainly
appreciate any donation you may wish to give.
