Friends Who Care Charities Ltd (FWC) is a registered Canadian non-profit organization (Charity number 86309 9420 RR0001). Our purpose is to improve the health and reduce poverty of the less privileged families of third world countries through the introduction of affordable water treatment systems and led lighting systems at the individual family level. Our aim is to impact the health and quality of life of these families by providing clean water and Solid State Solar Powered Super Bright LED light for as many less fortunate families as we can, regardless of their financial abilities. OUR 2009 MISSION TRIP TO INDIA Our mission to India in 2009 has taken us to Delhi, Ranchi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Hyderabd, Chennai, Kerala and Lucknow. We have worked with Gospel For Asia (GFA) to advance and expand the Biosand Water Filter projects that were established during and after our 2007 visit. To date we have 32 BSWF manufacturing facilities throughout India and we continue to expand to meet the tremendous need. We provide Biosand Water Filter technology and training to the organization and install Biosand Water Filters in the homes of underprivileged families, schools and churches in each area. We provide an information and technology transfer to create a self sustaining program. Much of the initial costs of setting up the manufacturing of the filters will be paid for by Friends Who Care. Friends Who Care has also provided the technology and information to manufacture and install Solid State Solar Powered Super Bright LED lighting systems for those outside the electrical grid. The local organization, GFA, has been trained in the installation and maintenance of the lights.
Friends Who Care is equipped to research needs, train local individuals through information and technology transfer, assist in setting up micro-enterprises for manufacturing Biosand Concrete Water Filters using local labour, leadership and materials whenever possible. We work in co-operation with local NGO (Non Government Organizations) to create micro-manufacturing businesses and local employment with the objective of improving the quality of life of those we touch.
Friends Who Care has introduced ultra-efficient, durable and near permanent White Light Emitting Diodes (WLED) lighting solutions powered by renewable energy to the world's poor in ecologically sensitive and remote rural area. To date we have installations in Mexico and India. Rod and Ingrid both are certified and hold a certificate recognized world wide. We provide English language courses to those children and young adults as a free ministry for those that could never afford this type of education.
